Joe Tollman Paul was larger than life
Joe (Toll Man) Paul was larger than life; literally and figuratively. When he walked into a room, the party started, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for a good laugh. He was the craziest and funniest guy you could ever meet, but would also be the first person you could count on to show up if you needed help. Schileen’s Pub in Bellmawr, NJ (his favorite hangout) hosted their own wing competition for a charity. Joe won that, and not long after he was competing in the official Wing Bowl in Philadelphia. He won the official Wing Bowl in 2000, and his Wing Bowl name was Toll Man Joe, originating from his career as a toll collector on the turnpike for many years. It was without a doubt one of the most fun Wing Bowls to be a part of.
“If I go tomorrow, it was a good one”
He was a beloved member of our family, and sadly we lost him on January 18, 2012. Although he left a hole in so many lives, his presence has never left us. One thing he said all the time to his family was, “If I go tomorrow, it was a good one”. Truer words were never spoken. He lived every single moment to the fullest. Anyone who knew him has a favorite story to tell that always leads to laughing so hard you're crying. We couldn't ask for a better spirit of fun, craziness, and zest for life than Joe Paul to name our bar after. The fun and amazing legacy he left for us means so much to us, and we want to share it with you.
Our goal is to make sure everyone that visits us leaves feeling like they didn’t just have a great meal and a few drinks. We want you to feel like you just spent a few hours with family, listening to great music, dancing, laughing, and creating your own funny stories and memories!
